Web NFC is a mobile-only, experimental API. To use this tool:
- Open this page on an Android phone with NFC hardware.
- Use Google Chrome (version 89+) — not Firefox, Safari, or a desktop browser.
- The page must be served over HTTPS (it is, here).
- Turn on NFC in your phone's settings, then reload.
Scanning and writing both need a tap to start, and the browser will ask for permission the first time.
What this scan can and can't show
Writing to a Waveshare NFC e-paper display needs raw NFC (proprietary transceive, not NDEF), which browsers do not expose. That is available only inside the 1234.nu Android app, where this page shows an extra e-paper writer.
Writes an image to a Waveshare NFC-powered e-paper display. The command protocol is verified against community reverse engineering, not Waveshare's own docs (Proxmark3 and the joshuatz app), so treat it as best-effort. Per-model image orientation is unverified too, so a picture can come out rotated on some panels. If it does, use the Orientation control below to turn your image (or text) until it reads the right way up on the display. This uses raw NFC, which browsers cannot do, so it works only inside the 1234.nu Android app. Nothing is uploaded; the image is dithered on your phone.
This model's write flow is lower-confidence in the reverse-engineered protocol (tri-color or two-pass). Results may vary.
Not sure where your NFC antenna sits? Press Write first, then slide the tag slowly across the back of the phone — the phone buzzes briefly when the tag is in the right spot and writing starts by itself. Keep it still there until it finishes.
